Around 1970-71, in West Bengal(India) and some other states, thousands of youth left education in order to take part in a revolution , an idea that filled their patriotic hearts, a vision of a ‘’classless society’’. A country where the poor gets job, two square meals a day, enjoys the humble comforts of life. Unfortunately this dream was never realised. There was bloodshed , sacrifice. Hundreds of young men died during police encounters. The command of a handful of leaders ended lives of other innocent people. One can say these angry young men were ready to sacrifice their lives even at the mere utterance of these political leaders. Their goal was the well being of the country, the people. They left the comfort of their homes, their own happiness in order to bring smiles on the faces of those who were wronged and miserable. However all this sacrifice did not lead them to the utopia they had imagined. Some of them who managed to dodge the police and survive, had a dark future. While some went insane, others were left with a dysfunctional body. Homes echoed of mothers, sobbing , mourning their dead sons. It wasn’t even their fault. Through our story, we wanted to convey this message , that emotions will be there, is essential , but one must act with tact and judgement ; not on impulse, not on a rage of ‘’heroism’’. The film is entirely based on those times , a fictional character narrating the story. We want to communicate this message to the people , the world is my country. We need to stand by those people, our people, who are rendered poor, underprivileged, exploited and abandoned , social outcasts. We need to give them support , morally , politically , economically and socially. Only then will our lives have meaning, and us, worthy of living a life that gives us inner peace. If we choose to go astray and continue running towards the wrong direction , our fate will be similar to that of Ratan, the hero of the desert. All he wanted to do was good for the people, fought for the well being of the common man. But what he got in return was life in a dark cell. History is witness to many such Ratans. The cities and villages of Bengal continue to echo their voices, the thud of patriotism , the bloodshed, the revolution . Lets vow not to make the same mistake as them. To fight for a cause , with tact and judgement, not on mere impulse , not through the dark hands of violence.

Khairabera is a beautiful lake amidst an irrigation dam in the midst of slopes and woods at Baghmundi hills which falls in Choto Nagpur Plateau.
