"Happy to have met her", humbly says Skandan, coyly smiling and trying to hide his elation for having Shravya as his partner for life. "I hope she is comfortable too", and whoa, dear lucky Shyavya, we tell you, this man is THE KEEPER! The wedding was as breezy as the soft breeze can be. Shravya and Skandan exhume a lot of warmth in their faces. There is some beautiful silence in the way both of them handle themselves, and their togetherness. Our cameras loved that vibe. :) This was a 'Kannada' style Iyengar Wedding. Shravya with her 'Aandal' Kondai, decked in her Yellow Silk Saree, arrived at the Mandap in a Palanquin. She was carried on either sides by her Uncles, the very deserved royal treatment befitting the Princess of the family. Skandan wore a fitting Yellow Panchakacham, and Shravya, an arrack Madisar, and sat on the altar for the ceremony. That was a beautiful sight to behold. We are still wonder-struck at the scale at which the arrangements were made at the wedding. It was held at Aishwarya Sowbhagya Mahal, MMDA, Chennai., in typical Udupi Brahmin Style. The parents were excited, the siblings were excited, and all the relatives and friends were euphoric, so the place looked like it would explode of all that joy and happiness. The wedding hall was decked up like it was hosting a Royal wedding. Royal indeed it was, what with a stunning bride, and her most handsome groom! Iswarya / Aishwarya is a very famous face across South, thanks to her stint as a Television anchor, and we actually tuned our cameras to be alert upon celeb spotting. :) As a photographers, it was a visual treat. Our cameras loved and rejoiced and thanked Iswarya / Aishwarya for the splash of exuberance that the wedding was! The reception was no ordinary too, in fact it was one helluva spectacle! The bride and the groom entered, and the stage went all boom with white smoke, and then when the crazy lights dawned, zomg the couple looked like they were charioteer-ed straight from heaven. WHAT A MORNING THAT WAS! Everyone was told that this was a Pre-Wedding Shoot, but the cat was let out of the bag when we reached the venue. Bill boards, placards, balloons and bride boards. The resort was superbly decked up, and as cherry on the top, Aishwarya had arranged for a group dance, a la Tamil Cinema, before the actual proposal happened. Man, the Bride had some professional moves! The mood was festive, and the dance was ethereal, Aishwarya grooved for her groom to all the top Tamizh numbers, while the groom and us stood stunned for aishwarya was extremely thorough and professional. This lady has everything her way for a heroine, except that her hero was in front of her, nodding and overwhelmed at the sheer awesomeness of his bride! We had a blast shooting. Heavenly locale, a very out-of-the-world proposal, an extremely good looking couple, and some fantastic moves... Our camera kept jumping euphorically on this classic jugalbandi! Their families have known each other for a long time. Boy and girl move away from each other because growing up happens. And one day, all of a sudden, the parents suggest that they meet, and become friends. “Happy birthday, Preetha”, he texts. And then they meet, on the same day, Preetha’s birthday. Rahul and Preetha hang out, get to know each other, and along the way, they fall in love without really realizing that they are in love. “the proposal was the sweetest thing he ever did” reminisces Preetha while talking about her D-day. The parents were only too happy, Preetha and Rahul get married and they lived happily ever after. Sounds like a fairytale isn’t it? The wedding was a fairytale as well. Mayor Ramanathan Hall in Chennai was a beautiful sight to behold on the wedding morning. Rahul mounted a horse, and rode through to meet his beautiful bride Preetha outside the mandap. The festivities began with the beating of the Chenda Mela, and the wedding was like the ones that heaven would play host to. Rahul, and Preetha tied the knot at the Tamizh Style, surrounded by their parents, well-wishers, and relatives. http://www.focuzstudios.in/ This was the family Wedding of Anantham Silks, who operate out of kumbakonam and Ramnad, and the wedding was just like the silk they weave- Top class, solid, artistic, and different; we would like to acknowledge how the Anantham Silks family were absolute enablers in helping us shoot satisfactorily for the Wedding. The Mandap was situated conveniently in the midst of a lovely field- green and more green all over for our cameras to go berserk and act all high on adrenaline. Us being us, would we ever afford to miss out an opportunity as green as this splendor? Bring in the queen of all drones, and capture an aerial shot. And that's exactly what we did! Queen droned in and captured the most splendid green with an aerial shot. We guess nature was so happy with that particular shot that she blessed the couple for a togetherness as silky as Anantham Silks. :) The bride entered with a treatment befitting the most Royal of all the Royal households- in a Pallakku decked up with gorgeous silk, and the bride all silked up like the Fairy Silk Goddess, this entry was a treat to all our aesthetic appetite. The Theyyam dancers did their bit to spruce the wedding up. Theyyam is an ancient traditional art-form from Kerala. They hired the best Theyyam exponents from Kerala to dance the dance of Gods, and sure the Gods danced in the forms of Saraswathi, Maha Vishnu, Narasimha, Meenakshi, and our very own Mariamma. The experience was overwhelming that no amount of words would be sufficient to describe this emotion! and we wonder if this is how the Hindu Gods feasted and Celebrated their weddings. We were thoroughly and clearly engrossed in the Theyyam performance and need we say that we tried to capture what we felt in our hearts through our camera? http://www.focuzstudios.in/ Dear God of Gods, Dear Allah, we have never witnessed a wedding like this. We have never encountered a family like this. What was special, was made more special. All that was grand, was made grander. And there was a heart, tiny little one, sitting on the elevation, like the crowning glory. This heart could accommodate so much love, respect, beauty and glory in it. And this heart was made of two wonderful people- Faaria and Nisar, and we are glad to have been recipient of their umbrella of affection! Some weddings are like the Aurora lights. Difficult to spot, but when spotted, you just cannot take your eyes off them. And when the lights dismantle into the cloud of the universe, you will still stand there, stop and stare, and look for the light. You just cannot get over it. We are still reeling under the auspices of this Nikkah that made us stop, stare and beauty sigh. We were doubly enthralled by it. We were also equally careful because we din't want a tinge of regret after the shoot ("Oh, we could have done this shot better", "Ouch, we could have understood that ritual more") and hence we did our homework in advance. When we entered the venue, we realized that we were unprepared not for the shoot, but for all the affection and love that came pouring upon us from the families. That took some time to believe, you know? The good sort of believe where you are so overwhelmed because you so can't believe it's true? It was that moment for us. The venue was Leela Palace, but when we entered the five star property, it did not look anything like the plain big hall of the hotel. It was the grand temple of Allah, the well-decorated bay that would witness the Nikkah of the couple. And it was our responsibility to capture this grandeur. It would be a colossal sin to do justice to this decoration, and we decided to give our best shot in filming at the most artistic way possible. The festivities began with the Haldi ceremony where the bride glowed in crimsons of yellow and orange, the Haldi on her face and feet reflecting her life-to-be with Nisar. Content like the morning sun, and happy like the monsoon rains. The couple looked their best for Shukraana, and the nikah followed the ceremony. The Nikah is the most important ceremony of the Islamic wedding, and we could actually understand the significance of this ceremony because it was so intimate and equally short but the energy was such that one could never not be smitten by the happenings around. It looked like as if Allah's presence could be felt in the hall. Surrounded by family and friends, in the grand hall of the Leela Palace, wearing the best of clothes and looking ravishing in their designer wear, Nisar and Faaria got married and it was such a sight we tell you witnessed another level of grand in the spectrum of grand, and we hoped and prayed that Allah bless the couple with all the happiness and love that they can offer to each other. How wonderful it is to marry someone you have known all your life? Ganesh and Ammu's love story goes back to their childhood. They were kids when they discovered soul mates in each other. They were kids when their families saw soul-mates in Ganesh and Ammu. This is the thing that great love stories are made of. This is the thread that stands testimony to the fact that love is eternal. We were reminded of a Bharathiraja movie when we heard of their love story. Boy meets girl when they were kids. They play, and they have fun together. Their families are related. Boy and girl, grow up, and get bickering about each other. They also start noticing each other a lot. Their families talk about how amazing they look together. They don't understand how. They meet more often. In weddings and family get together and vacations. Before they know it, they are in love. With each other, their childhood sweet hearts. They get married, as is customary in the grand old Thanjavur tradition. The town that has the big temple has people with big hearts too. Thourughly had a blast shooting for this wedding. Even more so, after we got to know their love story. We experimented a little bit with shots and colors here. We traced some memories, made some elders speak, and captured some amazing 'man vaasanai' moments. Nothing nothing nothing at all like a village love story. http://www.focuzstudios.in/ Jaipalguri is the place one needs to detrain to hike up to Darjeeling. The weather is amazing, the air is clean, and the people are super warm. We had an opportunity to shoot for Anubhab and Swati's wedding, and we din't think twice before saying yes. Why? We had never shot a North Indian Wedding before. We had never shot a wedding in the hills before. We definitely did not have to contemplate and ponder about saying yes. Anubhab and Swati was West Bengal Style 'Bong' Wedding. They hosted this wedding in a Sinclairs resort Chalsa perched high up on the hills. You could touch the cloud, you could fly your dreams, you could catch the cold, and you can host a wedding too! The serenity of the place complimented the quiet charm of the couple very well, and we were completely blown over by the decor. The space was big and inviting, and we unleashed all our passion for aerial photography in one go. Watch the video, and you will definitely know why. Such was our spirit during this Wedding. Bengalis are very smart, and extremely traditional. Their weddings run for three days, especially for Marwari Wedding photography, relatives and friends dance and sing and be merry. The ceremony starts with a Haldi, and Sangeet follows the Haldi (Turmeric) ceremony. Sangeet seems like an amazing opportunity for the families to bond, and looking at the Sangeet performances, one realises that every family is a mini Bollywood dance party in its own way! and the Shaadi happens as the touchstone event. The couple looked like high sprited King and Queen. Their families wore such gorgeous costumes made of satin and silk. Pearls, and diamonds and golds complemented their attire. The decor needless to say was outstanding, and the food was extremely different compared to a South Indian wedding. They had rice, well, and our South Indian appetites rejoiced in the pool of Rasgullas. The food was lined up like a palace food fest, and those pictures warrant a separate album by itself! Very cute wedding, and lots of fun at Jaipalguri. No wonder, they call Kolkata the city of Dreams. This wedding was a dream come true for us to take that leapfrog into North India, and we are glad we shot this one. Lots of smiles, hugs, tears, and joy overload. http://www.focuzstudios.in/ The Hindu wedding was so happy and before we could wrap our heads around all the happiness's, we had to shoot the Christian Wedding of Sharm and Esther, and we must say that we were definitely lost in all the happiness add-on. It was a scene that we could witness over and over again. Sharm, all suited up, walked up. The smile just refused to wean off from his face. Marrying the love of your life must be the best thing to happen to anyone, isn't it? Sharm's face exuded that content. The bride's and the groom's maids followed him. The girls wore a short aqua-green dress (take a cue, all you fashionistas!), and the guys pulled off the rock and roll formals so elegantly. The little angels Rohaan and Mikalya in white gowns, carrying bouquets followed the gorgeous couples. It was then time for the bride to make an entry. Esther, in the generous white laced gown, her face veiled in a transparent white lace, and her smile inviting love from all quarters, walked in with her dad, hand in hand. The crowd cheered, Sharm's eyes was all on her, as she walked up to the aisle with the other love of her life, her dad. As the Reverend Father pronounced his prayers, and then the vows, Sharm and Esther stood in front of the alter, in front of God. The onlookers looked on, stunned and in silence, as Sharm and Esther exchanged their vows, and what a vow that was! Sharm promised to Esther that he would be the 'girlfriend that she will need when she shops', and voluntereed to be her punching bag when she feels like a Mike Tyson. HOW SO ADORABLE! Esther got emotional and promised to be Sharm's 'true and loyal friend', and they smiled at each other and wed. This is the story that soulmates are made of. The wedding was done and it was time to celebrate. Music rocked the floor and the families cheered, danced and laughed. The champagne corked off, the liquid flowed along, just like how the happiness and celebration spread like wildfire. The dance continued into the evening, and the families rejoiced, rejoiced and rejoiced. We had a ball at the wedding. We are so living in a world divided by race, caste and religion, but here is one couple that transcended the boundaries of religion to send a message out to the world: Love. Love brings the world alive, and love unites people. The beautiful bride, Esther, is a Christian and the handsome groom, Sharm is a Hindu. They met each other a couple of years ago, and became very good friends. Love slowly crept in as well, and that's all that mattered to them. They decided to get married, and their families were only too happy. The bride and the groom made no compromise in sending out a message to the world: All religions can wonderfully co-exist. To mark that spirit, they got married in both the Hindu and the Christian styles! The Hindu wedding had the bride all beautifully decked up in a peacock-green saree. We specifically liked her Temple jewellery headset that made her look very resplendent. She was full of smiles, and there was not a single moment when the smile was absent from her face. The groom wore the traditional 'rajah' style clothing, and he looked like the definite king of Esther's heart! The temple was hosted at the Murugan Temple in Singapore. The crowd was very small- the respective families of the bride and the groom, and some close friends. Everyone was smiling throughout, and it was such a beautiful sight to witness. The priest gave an extraordinarily beautiful speech in Tamizh and it was so heartwarming to see 'Tamizh' chants in a wedding. Why don't we take a leaf out of this wedding and incorporate more Tamizh in weddings here in Tamizh Nadu? Instead of the Sangeet, some Paravai Koothu maybe? Sharm's and Ether's wedding was held in Singapore, but it was so Tamizh than most Tamizh weddings. Loveliest couple, we wish them the best! And when an exotic personality when matched with another exotic personality, the stage just is 'cuteness overload'. Karthik and Ilavarasi met at college. Ilavarasi, as she puts it, just did not like Karthik during the initial days. In-fact she was so anti-Karthik that she did all that she could do in her capacity to make him fall and flounder at the college elections. But Karthik being the hero that he is, won big. A lot of Karthik reminds us of Mouna Raagam's Karthik. Or atleast that's the way Ilavarasi makes their story sound. Karthik wanted to be friends with her, while she kept turning him down. Persistence won at some point and they got talking. Karthik went all Alaipayudhae on Ilavarasi, and never told her the cliched "you are so beautiful I want to marry you". But he just said those things that a girl would cherish for the rest of her life. "I think I can keep you happy" is a strong statement to make to a girl. Well done, Karthik. Total respect! Karthik and Ilavarasi had to wait for nine years to get married. The divisions of community came into play, and parents were skeptical but they persisted and won again! And this grand love story deserved a super grand finale. The wedding was as extraordinary as their love story. We were able to capture a lot of Trichy's aerial shots, thanks to our drone. The bride gave a Pallakku entry, the groom matched it up with an entry that is warrant to kings - he was sitting majestic atop an elephant. The family members rejoiced and like Cinderella and Prince Charming, we are certain that they will live happily ever after. Wish them love and luck in the comments below! How magic happens, and makes you so sure that it is possible to find love, and be loved. To love, and to be loved is the greatest gift of life, isn't it? Anton is so thorough. There is a lot of realism and romance in the his speech for Akshaya. "You are falling in love with my internet addiction" should be made a modern mantra for today's generation. Akshaya also beautifully counters Anton's lines. "I take you as you are, who you are now, and who you will be". If Mani Rathnam were to be around, we are certain he would have made a movie out of this line. Her verses are so poetic, and so in tandem with Anton's words. They fill each other so perfectly, and what they tell each other is a perfect example to show how perfect they are for each other. We had a superb time shooting Akshaya and Anton's engagement. We really wished that we could shoot their wedding too, and we were overjoyed when they requested us to shoot for their wedding aswell. The wedding was held at one of India's oldest churches, the St. Santhome Church in Madras / Chennai. Akshaya has a lovely smile, and Anton is a true dapper! The Church was packed with friends, relatives and well wishers. Anton and Akshaya, smiles on their faces and excitement abound, joined hands before God and His Church to solemnise their Wedding. They exchanged their vows, and then their rings. As friends and family congratulated them, they walked toward the door, smiling, happily rejoicing and looking forward to all the good times to come. Akshaya and Anton are just two really good looking people, and we hope they rock the world with their togetherness. All of Ganesh's love for Nisha just outdid itself that reception night when Ganesh took the mantle up, ganged up with his team, and broke into an impromptu dance for Nisha. "It's a beautiful night" screamed Bruno Mars from the speakers. Nisha was totally stunned by the surprise - flash mob, and couldn't contain her excitement when Ganesh kneeled in front of everyone lip syncing for "i want to marry you", and meaning every word of it. THIS IS HOW ROMANCE WORKS, DEAR WORLD. THIS IS JUST HOW YOU DO IT. And when we just couldn't stop gaping at this awesomeness, another awesomeness followed when the crowd stepped up the music and grooved for Tu tu tu, tu meri ri ri.. Ganesh was absolutely fantastic. Can we see more of him onscreen please? He is such a treat to watch. The swag dance came to an end, Ganesh took the mike up, Nisha broke into tears, and proposed to her all over again in the most amazing way possible. If this isn't love, what is? All you future grooms, please look at this video. Ganesh has set the bar REALLY high up, and it is going to be lots of hard work! The reception was graced by who's who of Kollywood. The couple just made a 360 degree turnaround a day after next morning looking all proper TamBrahm. Wow, they rocked this look too. Every costume in the world just suits them like a glove. They look good in everything. JUST HOW. Nisha chose some amazing traditional colors for her wedding, they just worked wonderfully well with her face. The world is speed-bumping into Tinder to find love, because, according to dictionary references, arranged marriages are old school. But here is one couple that met through their parents, and fell in love, head over heels, and got married to each other. Our Wedding Film ohh! sorry! the Wedding Moments is proof enough of how much they are in love - Just look at them looking at each other. :) Varshini and Aditya are super bright and very good looking. They are based out of the US, and they got in touch with a year back and they confirmed with us as quickly too. We were very pleased with their approach, and we told ourselves that we need to outdo their expectation of us, and thanks to their cooperation, we are very happy with our shots as well. This was a typical TamBrahm Wedding. Very colourful and very traditional, but unlike the other TamBrahm Weddings, Aditya and Varshini's was a little more intimate. The Mandap was replaced with a Resort, what we thought would be a conservative extended family turned out ultra cool, and the ritual emphasising, serious TamBrahm culture got colored with an air of Punjabi what with lots of dance, great music and loads of fun. Confluence Resort, right outside the city limits at Mahabalipuram, where the wedding was hosted was very spacious, airy, breezy and beautiful. The food was served in Traditional Banana Leaves, and the scent of Jasmine and fresh sandalwood powered the atmosphere. The Maapillai Azhaippu had both the bride and the groom dancing with their relatives. It was such a sight to witness them stealing glances at each other whilst dancing. The wedding next morning started off with the Oonjal, and it was interesting to note that the bride opted for an arakku bordered Violet Madisar instead of the Tradtional Full Arakku Madisar. We found it really cool because it showed the changing tradition to accommodate current trends. And of-course, Varshini looked very 'Tanjorean', what with her beautiful face and expressive eyes. Aditya is smitten. Watch him sing for Varshini in this video, and we will all want a love like that. We wish Aditya and Varshini the best of times and lots of love.
